The Rate Riser GIC is a 5-year guaranteed investment where the interest rate increases each year. That means your return grows overtime if you keep the investment to maturity.
Yes, but only once per year on your investment anniversary date. You have a 7-day window to withdraw all or part of your funds. Outside of that window, the investment cannot be redeemed until the next anniversary.
You must keep at least $1,000 in the GIC after any partial withdrawal. If the balance drops below $1,000, the entire GIC will be redeemed.
Yes. A $1.50 withdrawal fee applies each time you make a withdrawal during your anniversary window.
Withdrawing before the full 5-year term may reduce the total interest you earn. The advertised Annual Effective Rate assumes you hold the GIC to maturity.
Yes. The Rate Riser GIC is available in both registered (such as RRSPs and TFSAs) and non-registered accounts.
